After you buy through Gumroad, a license key is emailed to you automatically, usually within a minute or two. Paste it into the app the first time you open it.

No. License verification happens fully offline, and all your data lives locally. The only time the app reaches the internet on its own is a quick startup check for a newer version.

That's Microsoft SmartScreen, standard behavior for any installer without a paid code-signing certificate. It's not a sign anything's wrong. Click the dropdown next to "Delete" in the warning and choose "Keep" to proceed.

Yes. That's the same SmartScreen check, just showing up again at a different step, because the installer is new and doesn't yet have a paid code-signing certificate. Click "More info," then "Run anyway" to continue. This warning fades on its own as more people download and run Horizon Map without issue, it's a reputation check, not a red flag.

Horizon Map checks for a new version on startup and shows a banner if one's available. Nothing installs automatically, you choose when to update, or skip it entirely.
